The status of the connection is "Network cable unplugged"
We do currently evaluating Windows 8/8.1. Each Windows 8 tablet should be delivered to the users with a USB 3.0 docking station. We are currently evaluating Toshiba Dynadock and faced the following problems with your drivers:
We are using an WinPE 4.0 flash drive to install Windows 8 with the "DisplayLink Corp. Net dlcdcncm6.inf 7.2.47462.0" Driver integrated. After the WinPE Phase, when Windows 8 starts the first time, a network connection is not available, JoinDomain fails and the installation is aborted. The status of the connection is "Network cable unplugged" (Control Panel -->m Network Connections) although the cable is plugged in. If you now unplug the cable and then plug it in the status changes to "available" (DisplayLink 7.2M1 - Ndis6.2.Wlk driver is used). Any suggestion how to solve these problems are appreciated. |

Firmware is not compatible with the driver version.
The network drivers does not work if the firmware is not compatible with the driver version. We first have to update the firmware on the Toshiba Dynadock on a Windows PC . Then we are able to do a bare metal installation with the USB flash drive and the Toshiba Dynadock. This is a big disadvantage for Enterprise deployments.
In our opinion a solution would be to have a WinPE driver that works also with older firmware versions (firmware update could be done later when Window 8 is installed) or to have an Firmware Update Tool that runs on WinPE 64-bit. |
