Default Device not recognized by Windows

I have a USB display adapter which I have just bought and trying to get it to work with my Acer Aspire S3 (Windows 7 Home Premiom 64 bit). I installed the supplied software and plugged in device into USB and Windows detected new hardware but then failed as device was not recognised. In Windows Device Manager it appears as an Unknown USB device. I tried removing from device manager and re-detecting but same result. I tried uninstalling software and istalling various newer versions found on Displaylink website, including latest beta, but same reuslt each time.

Before I send back for a refund, does anyone have any solution?

If it is not appearing on the USB bus then all bets are off. It could be a faulty USB cable, but it sounds like it is faulty hardware. Have you checked on a different PC?

If it fails on other computers, then best to get it replaced.

Yep - that means its a hardware problem and Windows cannot enumerate the USB device to know what driver to use.

What about the issue with Windows assigning it the 8060 hardware ID? That seems to be my only issue at the moment ... but it never initializes correctly.
