New Equipment Not Configured Correctly
Good Day. I recently purchased a new Dell Latitude 3520 (Windows 11) along with the Dell D3100 Docking Station. So far I have everything working reasonably well except for a couple of things I hope to get ironed out.
First, when I close the laptop, the display on my dual monitors shut off. Additionally, the docking station isn't charging my laptop. I found that the docking station can charge the laptop if I use the USB-C input on the laptop, so I've ordered an adaptor for the cable from the docking station to the input USB-C input on the laptop. Hopefully that fixes the powering problem. I would like to keep the laptop closed to protect the screen and keyboard when not in use. I have set the power to stay on (Never selected) when not in use and that doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help. |

I found that there is a lid switch activation I could turn off in the BIOS that solved the open lid issue. Hopefully the adapter takes care of the other problem.
Thanks anyway for the interest. |

To quote Dell's website: "Dell Docking Station – USB 3.0 (D3100) The Dell™ Docking Station – USB 3.0 connects your laptop to up to three additional monitors, various external devices and the Internet with a single cable. The dock does not charge your laptop but provides USB charging to peripherals." |
