Default Macbook Air M2 Unable to connect two external displays

I just purchased a Macbook air M2 and also purchased a Plugable UD-6950PDZ. I have a Samsung C49RG9x monitor. I keep the clamshell closed on my computer and plugged in the dock to the USB-C on the laptop. The #1 display works fine. However the second screen, which is set to be an extended desktop, is at a very low resolution (640x480) and cannot be changed. What do I do to fix the problem?

I was able to get it working by using a HDMI cable for monitor #2 instead of displayport. If anyone knows how to adjust the setting so it works with Displayport, please let me know.

Based on your description, if you have not already done so, I would suggest replacing the DisplayPort cable with a new one in order to rule out the cable as the cause.

If that does not help, I would suggest contacting Plugable directly for assistance --> https://plugable.com/pages/support
