Default Issue with Atlona AiR 3, Displaylink Driver on Mac OS 10.6.6

Upon installing Atlona's WUSB software and Displaylink 1.6 b3 drivers, inserting the USB transmitter causes the system to crash immediately. Apparently, someone with a similar device that uses displaylink (but is manufactured by Warpia) had a similar issue, and it turned out to be the Warpia software causing the problem. (see this thread: http://www.displaylink.org/forum/sho...p?t=580&page=2)

I've contacted Atlona support, which has cited Displaylink 1.6 b3 as incompatible with OS 10.6.6, and can only recommend an OS rollback to 10.6.5 (which I'm unwilling to do). Posting crash dump here for your interpretation. If the crash is related to Atlona's WUSB software, I can at least go back to them with that information. By all indications, it looks like Displaylink won't have an updated driver for quite some time. (see: http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=562)

Thanks for the help!

Sure looks like it is their driver, not DisplayLink at fault. As others have confirmed, there is no compatibility issue with the DL drivers and 10.6.6.

just a quick update for others who may be experiencing the same issue with Atlona's AiR 3. I just called tech support who confirmed that this device does not currently work with 10.6.6. Atlona does not maintain the software and drivers for this device, they just design the hardware. Tech support claimed that their software partner(s) are working on an updated driver version, but could not confirm whether the issue was with the DisplayLink driver or with the Wireless USB (WUSB, wisair) software, and did not have an ETA for a fix.

I've decided to return the device and keep an eye on driver releases.

Are there other USB->HDMI DisplayLink devices confirmed to work with macOS 10.6.6 that are capable of transmitting 1080p and digital audio?

My own investigations show that it is the Wisair driver that is causing the kernel crash (on 10.6.6). The crash happens even when the DL drivers are removed.

So, I currently have an expensive piece of kit (Atlona AT-HDAIR) sitting there, that I was led to believe would work on a Mac, doing nothing. Since buying it, I see they've removed the "compatible with a Mac" from the product description. Annoying to say the least.

I can confirm the same root problem here. Wisair drivers are causing the crash.

I hear your frustration, mac-compatibility without support for the latest OS doesn't amount to much. Had to chuckle when the support tech recommended I roll back to 10.6.5.

There are seemingly tons of these wireless usb to HDTV adapters out there that all use the wisair technology (see their list here). I've decided to try one that isn't on that list, the Imation LINK. Only advertises 720p -- hopefully 720p that works!

Default Working driver from Warpia

I bought the same atlona device for my projector, becuase it was supposed to work with Mac os. But ran into the same issue you guys did.
I have a Mac Pro & MacBook Pro both with 10.6.6, and no desire of rolling back my systems.
I had the thought, since you mentioned that all the devices are based on the same chipsets. Why not try another companies drivers.
I tired the warpia driver on my atlona hd-air and it worked. It is of course a beta, so time will tell how stable it is. But working none the less.

Here is the link:
http://www.warpia.com/support/driver...0a_support.asp

Scroll down to the section titled. "MAC OS X Support for the Warpia PC to TV Products (SWP100, SWP100A):"

You can ignore all the parts about firmware upgrading.

All I did was:
1. Download the driver.
2. install the usb driver first.
3. restart
4. install displaylink driver
5. restart
6. put in the usb dongle and it came up in the wireless usb prefs app.

NOTE: I did not have the dongle in during any part of the install, only after all the software was in and the second restart did I put it in.

Hope this helps.

Default New Drivers for Mac OS X 10.6.6

Hey guys,

We just came up with the latest driver last week which supports Apple's latest OS, 10.6.6. You can download this driver from here http://www.atlona.com/downloads/MAC%...%20support.zip

You may also download and install DisplayLink driver from here http://www.atlona.com/downloads/Disp...er%201.6b3.zip

If you have older MAC drivers installed on your computer, first need to uninstall old version by using OLD installation file and choosing UNINSTALL. After each process, software will ask you to restart the computer; please install/uninstall one driver out of the time and restart your computer.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Default No success with new driver

Hi Ben,

I was thrilled to hear that you had a driver update as I am on 10.6.6. I have tried following your instructions and remembered to restart between all uninstall/install actions. But my Mac still crashes when inserting the HDAiR.

I have to say that I am uncertain of the success of uninstalling the old WUSB driver as the uninstall dialogs have very little information and after entering credentials and pressing ok the window just closed without announcing any result.

I thought you might be able to see on my error code what is wrong - please advice:
