Default Faster route to customer satisfaction

There was a great suggestion on the User Suggestion forums for trying to get Displaylink to support 2560x1440 HiDPI on M1 which was to open source the drivers. This appears to be a great idea because then the community could update per beta release and potentially features would be developed alot faster. That current suggestion for instance has been outstanding for over 8 months with no real response. I'm sure Displaylink makes their money from the hardware rather than the driver and hence surely it makes sense to get a larger community developing the software to keep it up to date rather than making it wait years for the features that its requesting?

Displaylink could still manage the open source development if it wanted to but there seems to be many more community developers that would assist to promote the product and further the market than what is currently being harnessed.
