Angry Problem with installation

I purchased a SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro adapter, downloaded, and installed the latest drivers from displaylink.com. I am running Windows 7 Professional with a NVIDEA GeoForce 6500 (a co-worker has an identical computer with Windows 8, and it works on it). After the install I plug in my second monitor, the drivers are loaded, and the message comes up saying it's configuring for the first use. The main screen goes black twice, the second monitor never comes on and Windows WDM crashes. If I try to look at the Device Manager, Windows Explorer crashes. If I reboot I get a blue screen of death, Windows keeps rebooting, and I have to do either a Startup Repair or a System Restore to get back into the computer. After either one, the drivers are uninstalled. I've tried this three times with the same result.
