USB issues: power and detection
I have the Targus adapter with a Carbon X1, running Win8.
When I boot with the adapter connected, it always works. But if I connect the adapter with the laptop Running or in Sleep mode, some of the USB devices fail to be detected. If I disconnect the USB cables for those devices and reconnect, they get correctly sensed. Some devices connect fine. I'd say that my USB "phone" fails 90% of the time as above. The display doesn't even light up (it has it's own power supply -- not powered through USB). My USB keyboard fails about 50% of the time. I've yet to have my USB mouse fail. And the displays always work as well. Thoughts? I'm considering buying a USB hub so I only have one cable to pull / reconnect [update] I forgot to mention that when I disconnect the cable of the undetected devices, Windows makes the "USB disconnected" chime. So the laptop knows a device is there -- the device is just non-functioning until I disconnect/reconnect the cable. Last edited by rdlm; 06-25-2013 at 03:55 PM. |
