Default Direct3D support in 5.4?

Hello,

With 5.6 I was unable to get Direct3D support so I downgraded to 5.4 noticing the support for DirectX 10 mentioned in the release notes. After I completed this I ran dxDiag and still found it reporting that Direct3D was not enabled for Windows XP. Is this a feature that is exclusive to Windows 7? Originally I was running a Windows 7 system but the DisplayLink software was not showing on the taskbar and the DisplayLink device was not available in Windows display picker.

Here is the DxDiag output.

Thanks,
Devan

Yes, Direct3D support is only for Windows Vista and later and Direct3D 10 support was, as you state, added in 5.4 for Windows 7.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks Paul,

Are 5.4, 5.5, and 5.6 parallel streams or does the addition of Direct3D support in 5.4 mean that it will be in a future releases (i.e. 5.6) as well?

Or maybe put another way, is there a reason why I would not want to just use 5.6?

Yes, using 5.6 should be absolutely fine. Are you planning to go back to using your DisplayLink device with Windows 7?
