Audio interruption
Hi,
I got a Lenovo ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A docking station connected to my laptop (on W10) via USB-C. So far I know this device is equipped with a DL-6950 chip. Here is the list of devices connected to the dock : 2x External Monitor 1920x1080 via HDMI 1x Dolby 5.1 Sound System via jack 3.5mm The audio is playing and the speakers are working but with brief interruptions of less than one second every 5-10 seconds. This is not a hardware problem with the speaker system because they just work fine by connecting it directly to a phone. I checked all the dock related drivers are up to date. And (that's where it begin to get weird) interruptions don't occur if the sound settings page (settings / system / sound) is opened on the active desktop (and it comes back as soon as I swipe desktop). This suggests that this is not a hardware problem of the dock either, since I somehow manage to make it work properly. Do any of you already had this issue? I would appreciate some help, I really don't see what I can do to solve this problem. Dimitri Last edited by dimi_lbr; 11-08-2020 at 06:16 PM. |

While I do not know the cause of the behavior you describe, you mention that the dock is connected to your Windows 10 laptop via USB-C.
If you temporarily switch to connecting the dock to the laptop via a USB-A connection, does the behavior change? If you have a different Windows laptop available to test the dock with, does the behavior change when using a different laptop? |

Hi,
Thank you for your answer! The problem does not occur when the computer is connected to the dock via USB-A. That's the solution I'm currently using but it forces me to plug the 65W charger in addition to the dock cable (no big deal but it was exactly to avoid plugging in several cables several times a day that I bought a dock). I tried this with a friend's laptop and the problem doesn't occur at all. The dock seems fully functional to me and I really think it is a software problem on my computer or on the dock. Have a nice day Dimitri |
