Black Screen with HP EliteBook X360 and HP USB-C Dock
I just installed Ubuntu 17.04 on my HP EliteBook X360. Still a lot of hardware not working (fingerprint sensor, IR camera. etc...) but, after installing the DisplayLink drivers 1.3.52, the HP USB-C Dock is recognised as a DisplayLink device AND my monitor (Benq BL2420T 2560x1440) is recognized and appears in the Displays control of Ubuntu.
The problem is that when the screens are configured as extensions, the monitor is simply black, no image....and when the screens are configured as mirror, I only see a frozen mouse pointer on the external monitor. The laptop's display works ok. Any clue? Here is the Machine.log: Machine name: marc-HP-EliteBook-x360-1030-G2 OS info: Linux-4.10.0-20-generic-x86_64-with-Ubuntu-17.04-zesty CPU info: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7600U CPU @ 2.80GHz Cache: 4096 KB Cores: 2 Installed RAM: 15823920 kB Currently logged user: root DL driver version: 1.3.52 EVDI kernel module version: 1.3.43 DLM running: True DL device connected: Bus 004, Device 003, ID 17e9:4354 Name: HP Elite USB-C Docking Station Speed: 5000 Mbps Attached are all the logs from the DisplayLink Linux Support Tool |

Hi Dylanparry.
This totally did the trick! Now the external screen work fine. I just had to adapt the path you specify as in my distro, xorg.conf.d is in /usr/share/X11/ Thanks a lot! |
