How exactly are apply killing displaylink?

I've read several posts here saying that apple are actively making it difficult for displaylink to write drivers for macs. I was wondering exactly what they are doing? How is it that they are targetting displaylink and not other vendors? And why are they doing this? I presume they are doing this as a means to force people to upgrade to a newer mac.
