Default Ready for the skip!

I have recently added a second monitor to my system. The second monitor is identical to the original and it is a Dell SE198WFP.

I bought a USB 2.0 USB VGA Display adapter which appears to be a DisplayLink device. This weas from eBay and I paid £20 for it.

Upon installing it, as per the instructions, the display works but only in 800 x 600 which is far too low for me as the main display is 1440 x 900 and I wanted the same resolution.

I ran the display settings and I cannot change the resolution. Also, even though the 'extend my desktop to this monitor' is checked, I get the wallpaper (in 800x600) but the mouse pointer disappears and I cannot navigate around the screen visibly.

I have run the DisplayLink Info Gathering tool and the result is attached (hopefully).

Please advise as i am ready tothrow this adapter under a truck!
