Default HDMI to USB 3 only enables slow mirror display?

Hi all,

I bought a displaylink adapter USB3 to HDMI to connect an ASUS display (MG28U) to a MacbookPro 2011 with HighSierra 10.13.6. I downloaded the displaylink software from the website and my computer recognizes the display. However, I can only mirror the integrated display and it is very slow. I was also hoping to have an extra display, but when I uncheck this option in the Preferences, the ASUS goes black.

Is there a way of fixing this? Or nothing is possible?

Thanks

Please read this.

I would strongly suggest to upgrade to macOS Mojave or Catalina.

If you can't then please read

It should help you to enable 1 extending display.
