Am i obligated to use the displayLink software in order to use the screen?

I'm thinking in use an apple thunderbolt 3 cable to see if I can use the screen without the dsiplayLink software. Will it work?

Yes it will work natively without any display link software or driver installed.

I just purchased the apple thunderbolt 3 cable, uninstalled the display link software, connected the screen with the cable, and it works right away.
