Issue when the Mac goes to sleep !

I have my display adapter connected to my MacBook Pro with two 20" Cinema Displays. When the laptop goes to sleep and I wake it, only one display goes alive and the other stays black. I then have to un-connect the USB plug for the display adapter that is connected to my laptop and reconnect it. After doing so the second display goes alive again. This only happens when the computer goes completely to sleep. When just the screensaver is activated and I wake it from the screensaver everything still works. Why is this so? How do I go about correcting this? Thank you
