Default RDP (remote desktop) inside Citrix won't launch when displaylink monitor is active

Hi,
I have a brand new MacBook Pro running 10.9.5 with a Monoprice USB 2.0 displaylink adapter. When I install the 2.4 drivers from the displaylink site and plug in the adapter, everything seems to work well. When I connect to a VDI session (Citrix Viewer 12.0.0) from my Mac, I am able to use Outlook, Lync, putty, etc.

The one notable exception occurs when I launch an RDP session (start -> run -> mstsc) from inside the citrix. I get the login prompt, but when I type in my credentials, it seems to hang (the dialog box doesn't disappear and the RDP session never shows up on my screen). This happens regardless of whether the Citrix session is running on my macbook pro screen or on the displaylink screen.

If I unplug the displaylink adapter from my mac, then re-initiate the citrix session, everything (including RDP) works. I can even re-plugin the displaylink after the RDP session is established and all is well.

Any thoughts?
