Hi everyone !

I have acquired two DELL monitors, both of which are connected to my ThinkPad Docking Station (https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Lenovo-40AF0135UK-ThinkPad-USB-Docking/dp/B07CKG1FXN?crid=5QUBNJ1WKBT4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ZFNz4g6d8aun_wGPbC0jlZJLysuhvAQuU hMMyE4j9SNpTQNoYr0EF_hUmNrARJsg1xm_GWtXNXSS7JHlTnH BhNLfWu0aahtZ-0CLsgKKPjs7vk3HMg3iVtn9Is4bdQ91LINDapi7dSUJXPRm0yP 940x2-fbJ_E3NqR-o_lxJiO6ROwLelopZG09qiR-DyUTNpeHbkCyD8yYbLJd1CC10JnAEQZe6gYFppqzYw_sRxNc.7 rh9zy1WJUFxmJyzf62QxV_PaBb0aAUL_mMzW5LLpvU&dib_tag=se&keywords=Lenovo%2BThinkPad%2BUniversal%2BThunderbo lt%2B4%2BDock&qid=1741211505&sprefix=lenovo%2Bthinkpad%2Buniversal%2Bthunderbol t%2B4%2Bdock%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-20&th=1) that support Display Link. How do I know it supports DisplayLink?

1. It's written on it
2. It works with my M1 Pro

The issue I am facing is making it work with my MBA M2. For some mysterious reasons, I cannot get any of the monitors working with my MBA M2.

The M1 Pro works just fine tho, I have extended display -- everything's perfect.

On macOS, in Screen and System Audio Recording, I have Display Manager toggled. To my knowledge, this is the only option that should be toggled/enabled.

I am on macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 (24D70).
I tried to uninstall and re install the software, to no avail.
I tried both USC-C ports on my MBA, no change whatsoever.
Upon clicking the DLM icon, I get the message "Please connect your Display Link Device".

Am I missing something here?

Hi,

I have an update: the issue is now resolved.

I am not sure what cause this but here's the lowdown:

- The USB-C cable that was working for the MBPro and MBA M1 did not work for the MBA M2
- I've first tried an USB-C -> USB-A adapter -> USB-C and it worked
- So it goe me thinking there was an issue with this specific cable and my MBA M2. I've tried other cables, they all worked on all machines.

You might argue it was an issue with the cable then. How come the first cable worked fine with the MB1Pro and MBA M1 then?

I cant make sense of this.

Anyway, hope this will be helpful for someone.

Hi edelwe1ss,
I'm glad you were able to solve the problem. We have indeed seen instances of problems with the USB-C cable included with the ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A adapter dock. Hence, replacing the cable with another one may be the solution. I would also recommend looking in the System Report to see if you are sure the docking station enumerates as USB3 and not USB2.
