Win 7 64-bit, Unknown Device when plugged in
Hello all, I currently have the DisplayLink software installed on my Windows 7 SP1 64-bit desktop. After installing the software, I plug in the device and it shows up as Windows trying to install an Unknown Device. The installation fails. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Same issue. I cannot manually add drivers either. When plugging it in, it doesn't matter if I skip searching for Windows updates or let it search. Still same result.
It does work on my laptop with no issue. So it's not the device itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
What device are you using (there are lots and lots of devices with DisplayLink tech in them)? Is it powered externally (meaning it has a separate power adapter)? Are you plugging it directly into your desktop, or are you using a USB hub?

Using the Encore ENMUV-2 USB to DVI/VGA adapter. Plugging directly into the desktop. No external power. Tried different USB ports on the desktop as well. Same result.

Hi
Can you gather and attach the logs as described here? http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Thanks, James |
JamesH, I have uploaded the logs here. Thanks for the help. An update, before collecting the logs I updated my video card drivers to the latest, and just to try again I uninstalled the displaylink software and reinstalled the latest version. It now shows up in device manager as DL-165 Adapter and not Unknown Device. But still will not detect the additional monitor.

UPDATE--
Rebooted desktop for a third time, and it shows up as Unknown Device. Collected logs again. http://www.fileswap.com/dl/PgpsMWBVAx/ |
