"Windows App" desktops invisible on MacOS Sequoia

1 Attachment(s)
Hi so I recently updated to MacOS Sequoia, and now my "Windows App" Azure Virtual Desktop no longer displays on my DisplayLink displays.

It's a very strange issue. The window just turns invisible. It's "there" on the screen, I can select it in the window manager and it highlights the edges of where the window would be, but it just displays my desktop and other apps that should be "behind" the window.

I can open the AVD instance in full screen, and that works most of the time, but if I make the app windowed it makes it invisible. While in full screen, if I drag my mouse to the top of the screen to display the windows app menu bar, then the whole screen goes black.

This only happens on Displaylink monitors via my Toshiba Dynadock at work, if I use the HDMI to connect an external display, it works fine.

I did get prompted to allow "Screen Recording" for the Displaylink driver, after updating to Sequoia, which I allowed.

I am running the latest V1.12 driver

Hi GreenThumb1000,
Thanks for contacting us and pointing out this problem.
Can you check if the problem also occurs with DisplayLink Manager 1.9.0?

I'm having a similar issue with the 1.12 driver on macOS Sequoia 15.3.2.

On Apple Silicon using 2 CableMatters adapters and Intel using 1 Plugable adapter, neither KeePassXC, nor VeraCrypt will show up on the DisplayLink monitors. Other apps seem to work fine, as I opened about 8-10 trying to find more that would not show up. KeePassXC and VeraCrypt, when moved to either MacBook's internal display, show up just fine.

I ran the DisplayLink Cleaner, reinstalled 1.12, same problem.

I ran the Cleaner again, then reverted to the 1.9 DisplayLink Driver on both Apple Silicon and Intel MacBooks, and both KeePassXC and VeraCrypt work fine on the DisplayLink monitor(s).

Hope this helps narrow the problem down a bit.

I experienced this problem. macOS 15.5, DisplayLink 1.12.4, "Windows App" (Azure Cloud PC) 11.1.8 (latest). The Cloud PC (RDP session) window is invisible on DisplayLink-connected displays. This includes the window titlebar, frame and controls. If put in full-screen mode, the window appears black except for the mouse pointer.

Interestingly if I use "Mission Control" to show all virtual desktops, the thumbnail of the Cloud PC window does appear in the Mission Control interface -- this is what made me think it's a screen-recording problem related to Screen Capture protection (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/az...ure-protection). I can confirm that the Cloud PC content window cannot be captured using the screen shot tools regardless if it's located on the DisplayLink connected display or internal display.

Downgrading to DisplayLink 1.9 fixes the problem.

Likely, this is the same problem that users experience with MS Teams screen sharing. Please, stick to this thread for updates: Invisible MS Teams controls while sharing screen
