Two days ago I uninstalled the displaylink driver due to this issue and there was not a single kernel panic since then (before I had at least one per day). So I guess this pretty much confirms that...

Exactly the same problem here: unplugged...

unplugged both external 24" Monitors at work (MBP running), put it in sleep mode
opened it at home, saw the login screen for about 0.5s then SOD, restart.
