This driver:
DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows*from here: http://displaylink.com/support/downloads.php seems to work fine, with my 3 monitor configuration. No issues with BSODs coming out of suspend either, this is a relief. Now hoping for iPad version, seen in action here: http://tinkertry.com/mydesk |

hello tinkererguy,
I saw that you came to run the display link for windows 8. now for me it does not work. I installed the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows V7.0 B1. Is it necessary to install anything else? Thank you for your answer |

No, it just worked.
Do you also use the Lenovo USB 3.0 dock for your DVI-D connection to your monitor(s)? |

I've installed newer NVIDIA drivers, but then am having trouble getting DisplayLink tray icon to show, so I've lost my 3rd monitor display. So in hindsight, perhaps the only way I had DisplayLink working was because it was working on Windows 7 x64 before the upgrade to Windows 8.
Anybody come up with a reliable way to run Windows 8 RTM and DisplayLink drivers yet? Even the new driver for Windows 8 (out of beta), now version 7.0 Sep 7 2012: http://displaylink.com/support/downloads.php failed for me with the same behavior: installs fast, screen never blanks, no tray icon (and no prompt to reboot). While I did notice that the DisplayLinkManager is running, the Device manager has yellow exclamations on all ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock entries under "Other Devices" Nothing in this debugging guide helped: http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=896 Feels like I need to do some sort of manual cleanup (registry/files/etc) then a reboot perhaps? FYI, Lenovo's new August 2012 driver for my Lenovo USB 3.0 dock won't even install on Windows 8 fyi: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guid...DocID=UM014961 Last edited by tinkererguy; 09-08-2012 at 05:50 AM. |

Odd, on Windows 8, in Device Manager, the usual tones when you add or remove hardware to the USB ports I'm trying to get the dock working from work fine, such as inserting a thumb drive. But when hooking the dock up, absolutely no sound, even though a monitor is attached to the DVI output and the monitor is on. Doesn't matter if I use USB 2 or USB 3 ports on laptop.
Even stranger, plug same dock into an old USB 2.0 computer, and it makes the usual hardware discovery noises, and finds the USB 3.0 Dock devices. Red light/power was on in all cases. Any ideas? Trying to get the new firmware there from Lenovo as well: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guid...DocID=UM014961 |
