Question Win 7 64-bit Kensington M01063 stopped working

Initially, I was able to create a third display on my Acer S232HL using a Kensington M01063 Universal Multi-Display Adapter and HDMI. It should be noted that this configuration was never 100% reliable. Sometimes, I had to unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in to get things working properly.

Recently, the third display stopped working completely. Sometimes I get vertical lines, but not always. I no longer get a proper display.

Using the tips in these forums, I have collected the following information about my configuration:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • Kensington M01063 Universal Multi-Display Adapter - version 5.2
Hardware ID: USB\VID_17E9&PID_0036 - not 8060 so I believe it booted properly
  • Kensington Display Adapter - version 6.1.35912.0
  • DisplayLink Core Software - version 7.0.41409.0
  • DisplayLink Graphics version 7.0.41409.0
  • DisplayLinkManager is running and starts automatically
  • DisplayFusion 4.1
I thought it could be a problem with the DisplayFusion multi-monitor software, but the problem occurs whether or not DisplayFusion is running.
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint 8.2
I use a Microsoft Wireless 5000 USB mouse - perhaps there is some sort of USB conflict?
  • My second display is a Planar PX 2710MW connected via a VGA cable

Any ideas?
