Hi Freq,
Could you please test one more thing? 1. Ensure "Additional HiDPI modes" are enabled in the Settings tab of DisplayLink Manager App:  2. In the macOS Display Settings click Advanced and uncheck "Show resolutions as list":  3. Check if any of the offered scaling options gives better results than previously.
