No sound on 2 of my macbook pros

To all,
I've tried everything I read from the web before, but mine just work when I reboot my macbook pro while the sys pref->sound->output window is open and in the front. Not sure why it needs to be like that but it works for me! Also, the usb device is connected while Im rebooting.
