USB 3 Winstars adaptor at Home Office and USB 2 Winstars adaptor at Work Office

I use a Toshiba Tecra R850 (1 laptop) with a docking station (same type of docking station) at both home and work. I continually have to manipulate the Displaylink software (install software/drivers etc) to enable the two monitors and the laptop monitor to work at the same time. Is the software/ hardware compatable or should I have the same type of adaptor at both my home and office?
