A HDMI port doesn't output an analogue signal, so going HDMI->DVI->VGA won't work.

You will need a DisplayLink device that supports VGA, or does DVI-A with an adapter. Or connect it directly to your monitor via DVI (using adapter, or a HDMI->DVI cable) if your monitor has a DVI port.

It's not clear to me from the diagnostic information if the device just isn't alive because there is no signal from a display, or it is broken/some other problem.
