Default An AOC portable monitor and an ASUS motherboard...

A few days ago, I bought an AOC E1659FWU USB monitor and was totally excited. Excitement quickly turned into a headache trying to get this thing working on my main rig.

Note that the monitor is, in fact, working as I was able to get the thing working with the Displaylink drivers on an old 2010 Dell/Alienware laptop running Windows 7 and an almost decade old Macbook running Snow Leopard 10.6.

Back to my main computer, I only built it a few years ago, which makes it even more frustrating that my most modern computer can't work with this monitor:

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe
Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K
O/S: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (With the latest Windows Updates)

I've already lost count of how many different attempts I've made with the DisplayLink installer. Uninstalling, re-installing, system restoring, in and out of Safe mode, using and not using the cleaner tool and on and on and on...

The results varied:

-Getting the monitor to work!...Until the next restart at which point the AOC would crash Windows. As in, plugging in the monitor caused my screens to flicker, detecting the monitor and then my system would reboot by itself.

-Monitor not even being detected by Windows at all (Yellow icon in Device Manager).

-Monitor detected by Windows, but DisplayLink acknowledging that my USB controller drivers will not work with the AOC monitor. At least here, the device isn't crashing Windows.

So my motherboard is a few years old, which was about the time ASUS last bothered to update the USB 3.0 host controllers compatible with it. Tried all four installers for USB and DisplayLink won't play nice.

I tried the Ivybridge USB drivers on DisplayLink's own support page and for kicks, the AS Media driver. Nope:

I've tried the basic steps here:

I've just used the support tool and I've attached the results.

Again, as ASUS has stopped supporting my Mobo, my options are very limited. I'm also not interested in upgrading my O/S as a potential solution. If the AOC works on my old laptops, it should be able to work with my rig. My last attempt I used the DisplayLink installer version 7.9 M3.

Please, any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi James. Thank you for the response.

I tried installing those drivers. Monitor worked once and crashed Windows on reset.
