Default Connected screen and ethernet dropping out / blinking Dell M3800

Dell M3800, Quadro 1100 and intel 4600 graphics etc etc.

OK, I have now tried every combination of drivers known to man. Some good some bad. I have put the machine to the latest Dell approved driver versions (quite old on some fronts)

The screen plugged into the display link keeps dropping out (going black) along with the Ethernet connection dropping out.

Some times it won't happen for hours and at others it's every 20 seconds which makes it pretty much unusable.

I have run the "Tool" and attached the zip.

Please help before I bin it.

Hi,

Can you run through this FAQ?
http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...from-repeatedl

Let me know if you still have issues afterwards.

Thanks,
James

OK, I have run through those items.

I have changed the power settings as described.

I have updated to the latest USB driver, even though it is not the one that Dell recommend on their website.

I will give it a go over the next day or so to see how it pans out.

Well it is on the blink again.

The only thing I have not tried on the list is plugging into an external USB hub as I don't have one.

Strangely the wireless keyboard and mouse plugged into the unit still work on the other screen when it is blinking.

OK, now all solved.

Dell came and replaced the motherboard on the laptop and I haven't had any issues for the past week or so.
