USB adapter for Linux....

Hi,
i use Ubuntu on my PC (17.10, i always update it) and now i have to buy an USB adapter to use a second monitor (the first one is connectet on the HDMI port)....
I can use a VGA adapter or an HDMI dapter without problem but i need an adapter that i can use on Ubuntu .....
Can someone explaine to me wich model i can buy tha works with Ubuntu system?
