I also got it working according to nicole's and Nystera's instructions. The weird thing is, the docks used to work flawlessly on my M1 air up untl at least Big Sur. I think updating to Monterey is what caused the USB ports to not work most of the times when I connect the dock. It sucks to have such a lengthy workaround (rebooting), but guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
