Default USB to DVI adapter crashed windows 7 Ult

As soon as I plugged in the adapter, windows grabbed it, blanked my screen and locked up windows 7 ult. I can't get it to boot except in startup repair. How can i correct this?

Hi,

Can you clarify what "Windows grabbed it" means? Do you have any virtual machines running? Do you have any USB filter drivers installed?

Was DisplayLink software installed before you connected the adapter?

Thanks,
James

I'm running vmware fusion on my macbook pro. I had the vm running but the active window was on the mac side. I had to go back to a restore point before Win7 would boot up again.

Hi,

You can either uncheck the "Automatically Connect USB Devices" checkbox in Virtual Machine | Settings | USB or select Virtual Machine | USB | Disconnect (Name of device).

Thanks,
James
