Default Dell Superspeed dock - network adapter and monitor output not working

Hello all,
I've emailed this question to displaylink as well as it took a while for my activation for the forum to come through, so apologies for that and I don't mind which avenue is used to respond.

My issue is:

I've contacted Dell about a docking station that is a displaylink product and they couldn't solve the issue and recommended I contact yourselves.

The issue started a few months ago (before upgrading to windows 8.1). When my system (a dell xps 18) came out of standby, it would require the displaylink adapter to unplugged and plugged back in. It is directly connected to the computer, not through a hub.

Subsequently, the item stopped working altogether with regards being able to use the network adapter or monitor outputs. They weren't recogised at all by the system under device manager. I tried un-installing the drivers and went through each set available, from those that came on the CD to those that were the latest on your website.

In the interim, I upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I contacted dell to ask for a replacement and they went through some troubleshooting steps and then referred me to you.

I have subsequently followed the troubleshooting steps in your knowledgebase to do with windows 8.1. I uninstalled all the drivers, ran the cleanup program and then installed the latest 7.4M2 drivers from the website. Now when I plug the replicator in, device manager recognises the network adapter but it's status always remains 'network cable unplugged' even when I plug a cable in that is working. Also, the monitor output is not recognised and I cannot use any monitor plugged either into the HDMI or DVI output of the replicator. I've attached the files from the support tool recommended. Everything came up as passed on the compatibility check. I've also tried altering the auto negotiation setting in the driver under device manager as suggested on your forum. I have read through and searched the forum and none of the suggestions have corrected my problem. I have also updated all the chipset, bios and other drivers for my system to the most current, from the dell website, as stated in another forum post.

Please let me know what I can try next to get this working or how I can get a replacement part if it's faulty.

Thanks in advance.
