No video on 2560x1440 display

I'm using the StarTech USB32DPPRO (USB3.0->DisplayPort) in conjunction with the StarTech DP2DVID2 (DisplayPort->Dual-Link DVI) to attempt to connect my Shimian 27" (2560x1440) monitor to my laptop. Latest versions of all drivers, including my onboard graphics drivers. The monitor and cable are working fine on my desktop PC.

Everything installed okay, and the monitor LED briefly turns red when I plug the USB cable in, but nothing is ever displayed on the monitor. The DisplayLink tray icon gives 640x480 as the only available resolution, and Windows display properties does the same (in addition to saying "No Monitor"). I've tried different sequences of plugging the devices in with no luck.
