Default Dell Superspeed USB 3.0 docking station with Inspiron 15 7537

I have tried the latest drivers from this site 7.6M2 as well as most current BIOS from Dell. Win8.1x64 brand new from dell, got video to display on monitor attached to dock but system freezes at indeterminate times. XPS systems get good reviews with this product and Dell says its compatible, but is it really compatible with Inspiron line? Any one else had any success with similar setup?

Can you explain what you mean by the system freezes? Screen freezes? Computer freezes? Mouse pointer freezes?

You'll love this. I just booted up with dock attached, Dell splash shows up on laptop screen it sends purple background to external monitor attached via dvi/hdmi adapter to dell 1707FPc and voila system appears to enter what appears to be a deep sleep mode (blank screen no response from system at all) and I have to hold power down for 5 seconds to get it to turn off although I have turned off any sleep/hybernate/hybrid settings possible on this thing. Reboot without dock and run system diags (all pass) and it runs as expected without issue. I spent a good amount of time yesterday trying many other suggestions on this site or the webs. Does anyone have any suggestions or would it be possible to get someone to look at some logs?

I have only had one instance of the system freezing today. Locked the system and went to lunch, when I got back the laptop had no display or HDD activity and the external (secondary) 17 monitor was stuck on a purple background and I had to perform a hard reboot. It seems close but maybe I'm missing some power management settings in the device mangler? I've set any configurable usb settings to not turn off the device. I'll update with what I find...
