Default DisplayLink "hides" all of my Desktop Files

Any time I start DisplayLink, it "hides" my desktop files. I didn't even know what "hidden" files were on a Mac but if you press Command + Shift + . (the period), you can toggle between seeing hidden files and only non-hidden (normal) files. Constantly showing hidden files isn't a permanent solution because you can't easily make changes to hidden files.

There is a way to "unhide" files one by one in Terminal but it is painful.

This only started a few days ago and I wonder if upgrading to Venture 13.7 caused it

Any thoughts?
