DisplayLink Beyond HD ACA039US crashing Excel 2013

I read through all of the instructions, although none seems to be specific to windows 8.

I did notice that in device manager, I have two items listed under USB display adapters: DisplayLink Display Adapter (4306) and Targus USB3.0 Dual Video Adapter. Is this normal?

I have opened a support ticket and they did have me try a variety of things from un-installing, re-installing, uploading logs, etc....to no avail.

The last thing they suggested was that I had the incorrect video driver installed for my Vaio. I triple checked - it is the latest video driver from Sony.

So I am still stuck. Any additional suggestions would be appreciated.
