Finally, after I installed Ubuntu 17.10 back again (though previous one was also fresh install) it started working without any workaround. I don't know why, but it looks like something was off, and having Ubuntu reinstalled have solved that.

The big issue is the displaylink docks don't work with wayland (and I don't know when they will support wayland).
